Mr. Sharpe is partnering with select psychotherapists to help facilitate Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic that has been extensively studied particularly for treatment resistant depression by the intravenous route. Spravato, an enantiomer of ketamine (s-ketamine or esketamine) given intranasally has been shown to be effective for and is FDA approved for Treatment Resistant Major Depressive Disorder and Major Depression with Acute Suicidal Ideation. Ketamine has been studied and shows promise in treating a number of psychiatric (and non-psychiatric) conditions.
Ketamine also shows a lot of promise beyond its purely biological impact when it is utilized with the guidance of a professional with specialized training in providing psychotherapy with this medication.
In order to ensure that one is a good candidate for this treatment, Mr. Sharpe will perform an in person evaluation taking into account both medical and psychiatric considerations. Based on this assessment, a recommendation will be made regarding whether it is permissible to move forward with KAP.
